First off I would like to thank everybody for replying earlier, and second I would like some opinions on the brand of paint everyone is using?I have got the engine, trans, and rearend primed and ready to put the color to it.Do I need high temp paint or just FORD red. Has anybody tried the paint at the FORD NEWHOLLAND dealership,or TSC,or Tisco, or just plain old single stage,or base/clear?

I used some of the Tisco for my gray. Painted the hood first and it took FOREVER to dry. I picked up some synthetic enamel hardener and added it when I shot my fenders and front rims. It dried quicker and looks the same. The stuff goes on kind of ~bumpy (and it wasn"t me or my gun), but tends to flow as it dries.

I bought the paint for my 8N, both red and gray, from the guys in North Carolina. Went on good and is supposed to be very close to the original color.

Did you brush on your primer? How did it float on the cast iron?

I painted my 8N this spring, using Ford-NewHolland paint for the gray and the red and was very pleased with both. It is called "Factory Match Finish Paint". The gray is: Gray Enamel (39/62)M1J-957-SE5DS and the red I used was Red Enamel 70780DS. I think the gray is very very close to the original gray. In some light it looks kind of brown, but outside in sunlight it is very nice.

Regular enamel paint will work just fine.
