I have moved from Kansas to Houston and my great Ford 8N tractor is still on the plains. I was thinkin of buying a car trailer and trying to get it down to Houston but I can't remember the dimensions or weight. This tractor has a front end loader and blade. Can anyone tell me what the width of a 8n is and how much it weighs? Also if anyone had a front end loader and blade, how long is it when both are mounted?

I trailered mine with loader about 200 miles. Can't remember exactly but think it was about 3600# best I can remember. If you put it head first, I'd cover your rad. About $140 to replace if it kisses a rock or something else. Craig

When I bought my 1940 9N, I hauled it from up near Sault St. Marie, ON down to near Belleville, ON on a UHaul AutoTransporter pulled by my Windstar. I had a Class III hit installed for the project.

The tractor had a snow-thrower attached, has loaded tires and chains -- and I figure the whole thing totalled about 3000lbs (see the photo).

I think the AutoTransporter makes a "fine" tractor hauler. With both a FEL and blade, you might want to (as someone else suggested) load the blade first at the front. Then you might even want to *back* the tractor onto the trailer.

YMMV.

Mine is 17'-7" front of bucket to rear of blade.
The back blade itself adds about 3' from the rear of the tires where they touch the ground to the back of the blade. So, bucket to back of tractor tires would make it 14'-7". When I hauled mine I took off the blade and tucked it under the front bumper and dropped the bucket on it to hold it down. My tires are setup really wide. Outside edge to outside edge is 7'-4". Tires hung over trailer edges on both sides. It was a long 30 mile trip I took with a flatbed 16' trailer. My other 8N has normal setup. Outside to outside is 5'3" as I measure in the dark! If I remember right the tractor is 2850 lbs. Not sure what the loader and blade weigh. My 8N also has filled tires. More weight to figure.

Be safe and have fun! The Yank
