I have recently purchased a 2n with an overdrive.
I can't find any info in manuals for this tractor.
Can anyone tell me if this is rare, history? RF.

I also just purchased a 2N with the sherman step-up tranny. Mine is a "47 and in very good condition. Front end is nice and tight, runs down the road at that blazing 18mph with no problems at all.

Ron..... ...the dealer installed Sherman aux OD tranny in the 3-speed 2N tractor gives you 6-speeds foward and 2-reverse. The OD step-up ratio is 0.669 to 1. 1st and over is faster than 2nd straight. 2nd and over is faster than 3rd straight. 3rd and over at full throttle will give you a BLAZING 18mph. But yer sloppy wornout frontend gonnna scare the peeewaddin outta ya.

Yer Sherman tranny is automatically overfilled with tranny oil from yer main trannys's front oil-slinger which drains back out when ya turn yer engine off, therefore you NEVER need to worry about oil-level or changing oil. Just change yer hydro-tranny oil every 600hrs per yer Ford owners manual.

BTW, Ford recommends changing engine oil every 100hrs or every fall.

Recommend you consider the merits of having yer very own copy of the I&T FO-4 manual. $22, cheap. Available from sponsors of this great N-Board. CNH Ford/New Holland dealers sell it, isn't that AMAZING? Even my local (byte my tongue) John Deere dealer parts counter has it for sale. Gittcha one and readitt..... ...respectfully, Dell
