I know I'm supposed to smear a bit of grease from time to time on the distributer cam...but what sort of grease and where do I get it?

I presume the answer will be the same for 2N as for NAA?

Thanks,

Paul

About 25 years ago (I just calculated that and can hardly believe it's been that long ago) I bought a tube of Lubriplate brand distributor cam grease. Back then, most vehicles like my '69 Roadrunner had breaker point distributors so the stuff was pretty easy to find. I haven't looked lately, because I still have over half the tube left.

Paul..... beau coup years ago, I bought a tiny tube of distributor cam lube, its silicone, still have lots of it. Go to a good autoparts supplier and ask. I'm not a fan of petrolium jelly based lube in distributors as they melt and evaporate and conduct electricity, silicone doesn't..... .Dell

Keep in mind that you don't need to "smear" much lube in there. A little dab'll do ya. The danger is getting grease or oil slung on the points, which accelerates burning. So, just barely wipe a little on the cam. Vaseline as Zane says is a pretty good choice because it is pretty viscous.

A little dab of petroleum jelly will do it.
