1952 8n resistor for hot coil

just got52 8n ford. has a resistor on top of coil.need to know where the two wires go to.it has been changed to 12 volt.

Hooking up a resistor one wire/end goes to the switch wire and the other end to the + side of the coil if its a 12 volt system, with a - ground.

It's kind of odd to have a resistor on top of the coil. Anyway a resistor doesn't care which wire goes where. Just put one on each. I sure would would check that 12v conversion over closely. I've never seen one like that. James
