I was at an old boy's place that buys and sells old farm machinery. He has two Dearborn loaders, and he said they were built for 2, 8, and 9 Ns as well as the corresponding size Ferguson tractors. All hydraulics are there, looks to be a front engine mounted pump and hydraulic bucket, (not the trip bucket type) He is wanting $500.00 ea for them. they have been used a lot obviously but appear to be straight and complete. Does this seem to be a fair price?? Also, has anyone tried moving 1000 lb round bales with an 8N and this type of loader using a bale stabber? Is that too much weight? Thanx

I have 1948 8N with a loader& Power Steering. I would hate load the bucket with this east Tex. sand & try steer it without PS. I saw a hay fork for a the 3 pt may have been Tractor Supply.

Good luck

I had a wagner loader on my 8N, it would work, but was definately dificult, steering was a bear and no down pressure, I sold the loader about 20 yrs ago, keeping the tractor. Now I have a ford 4030 loader/backhoe with power steering that is a pleasure to use.

Tim is right on target, I have an 8n with a Wagner step through loader, the tractor also has a backhoe on it so it evens out the wieght very well even with a load in the bucket the steering is not a problem, BUT without the backhoe on my arms get a heck of a workout so if you do the loader thing be sure to counter wieght the tractor enough.

rango, although loaders were made for the n's, without power steering, the added weight of the loader and the load itself (1000 lb?) would make steering the ol' girl a nightmare. i asked your question 5 years ago. tip, buy a loader tractor w/power steering for the weight you need to move. hth
