The bendix gear on 8n broke and fell into clutch housing. I tried fishing it out with no luck. Is there any easy way to get it out? Does removing the steering box allow access to the clutch housing? Thanks.

That bendix will do no harm in the bell housing. Believe me, I know, because there's one rolling around in mine right now! It's been there now for a while with no problems, and my property has some steep hills that my tractor has to negotiate, so it won't be an issue. I tried to fish it out with one of those retriever magnets on a stick. It would latch onto it but wouldn't bring it up past the flywheel. Just let it stay there until the next time you have to split the tractor for something.

Ditto on Dell's comment. Unless you are jumping hills during a motto cross with your N, no problem. And that clutch style bendix is worth the extra money.

Neubie..... ..Would you believe Ford specifically designed the clutch housing as a starter bendex spareparts storage? No? Well, it does. There's lotta N's carrying bendix parts down there and ain't hurtin' nuttin. Bottom line, don't worry.

And recommend the new and improved "clutch" style replacement starter drive..... ..Dell
