I stayed up late last night putting the cylinder head back on and bolting all the accessories back onto the engine. I also rewired the electrical system and installed the new oil pressure gauge, ammeter and new 12V coil. This morning I suspended the gas tank above the engine and hooked the line up. It took a few minutes of fooling around with it but it started up and runs quite well. Here are the issues I noted pretty quick....I don't have a radiator hooked up so I couldn't run it long.

1) Huge oil leak at the filter canister....the gasket is bad and I believe it's leaking around the line fittings as well...not a big deal.

2) Oil leak at the tee fitting that goes into the block.

3) Hydrualics didn't work. There's fluid in there but the lift did not move at all when I moved the lever. It feels like there's no resisitance on the lever at all like it's not doing anything when you move it? I was told the hydraulic pump and all had been rebuilt....

4) PTO works fine.

I couldn't drive the tractor because I have no radiator (the old one is toast) and I need to put the gas tank back on the hood and the hood back on the tractor.

Like the others said.. the pto must be turning for the hyds to work. pull a side cover if that doesn't get it going.. make sur ethe controlarm is in the valve and moving it when you move the hytrol handle.

Hi Alvin,

Question for you... you do know that the PTO has to be engauged for the hydraulics to work, don't you?

The hydraulic pump is driven by the PTO shaft.

Glad to hear you got her running.

HTH. Rick

Uhhhmmm.....nope....I didn"t know the PTO had to be running for the hydraulics to work. Next time I crank it up I"ll try that. Thanks! I"d like to try it now but I need to take care of my oil leak problems and get a new radiator so I don"t burn up the engine.

Cap off the botom water pump inlet and fill the block with water. You can remove the fan and cap the top inlet to run it a little longer. Water filled block will be safer than no water at all. HTH
