I purchased 9N several years ago and it had a Wagner loader already mounted. The other day I decided to take the loader off. Everything went fine until I came to the front shaft that drives the hydraulic pump. Any idea what's required to remove the shaft? In the meantime it spins around banging off the sheetmetal making a terrible racket.

Dan,

I haven't had time to look any further. I cut a short piece of plastic hose, slit it lengthwise and then positioned it around the shaft where it comes through the front grill sheetmetal. That seems to protect the shaft and the sheetmetal.

It looks to me like I'll have to disassemble a fair amount of the front end to get at the end of the shaft that is connected to the front pulley. I really don't know yet if it's a threaded connection or a spline connection.

It either unscrews out of the adapter fastened to the engine's front pulley, or the two are splined together, and the splines are stuck. You'll have to grab a light, and get your face up-close and personal, and have a look to determine which it has.

It should be obvious that if it is screwed in, you'll have to turn it in the direction the engine runs (CW - it's a left-hand thread), to get it out, or if splined, you'll have to use some good monkey juice like Thunderbolt to help loosen it up, so it will pull out.
