my leg got warm then i felt under the seat and it was warm. the oil was full on the stick but i have yet to change it. this tractor has sat idal for two years. this all happen after i had the brush hog hook up for 30 plus minutes. i still have not boughtthe tractor.

Keep in mind that the exhaust pipe has a clamp just under the left running board that is attached to the center hydraulic housing. Heat will transfer to any cooler surface or mass. I would say that if you can place your hand on the lift cover and leave it there without pain you are OK.

As SouNdguy said, if the hydraulics work OK I would not be afraid to use it.

First thing I do when a tractor has been setting is to change all fluids. That said.. hyds that are warm to the touch after operation aren't all that surprising. At best.. I've heard that hyds are about 80% efficient at power conversion.. that other 20% goes somewhere.. usually as heat.

Are the hyds working correctly?
