Good morning all,

Am looking to build a homemade sprayer to spray fruit trees. Have looked through the archives and found an idea but no picture.

Has anyone built a 55 gallon barrel sprayer? If so, do you have a picture available?

I appreciate any ideas.

Safety & blue skies,

DJ

I use a 20 gal agri sprayer ($100)
with 12 volt pump for my apple trees.
I use a quad and a trailer, could use
a lawn tractor. Clip the leads to the battery.
pump shuts off when trigger released.
Adjust spray to shoot up into the trees.

Jeff, what kind of sprayer? Do you want to build a fog sprayer like commercial orchards? Are you going to spray with a wand or boom? Lemme know, I can't help you with the fog sprayer but can probably help otherwise.

Hey Ron,

For now I'll be using a wand to spray. The trees (40) are just under a year old. Eventually will need a fogger but for a couple years the wand should work great. I appreciate any ideas.

OK, then I just use a roller pump, (6 roller works for me) around $60-$70. A 55 gallon drum, or in my case I use 2 30 gallon drums. A suction line into the pump, a feed line which t's off to the wand, and to the return. A fairly cheap bypass valve (adjustable) will regulate the pressure to your wand, and handle the overflow when you shut the wand off. The bypass also keeps the spray material agitated and mixed. It's an easy conversion to a boom sprayer for crops or lawn.
