The threads are sort of messed up on the axle on the end part maybe 1/2" from the end of the axle. The dealer has a new hub and I am going to replace the main seals. Where can I get one of the special nuts that I understand is available for these when the threads are messed up?? I will see if I can get it to tighten down like it is for now I guess.

Sorry to be the giver of bad news, but save your money on the $15 "helper" nut - and apply it to a new axle. Your splines are worn WELL past the point of usability. Those splines should be straight, not bowed as they are. You would destroy a new $60 hub in a matter of hours running it on that axle. New hub, new axle, new outer bearing (and maybe a cup as well if it is pitted), new seals as long as you are in there, and about 6 new shims to set your bearing pre-load (they are cheap). I know it is expensive - but you need these or you are just wasting your time and money.

Tighten the new hub on the axle to 450 lbs, drive it around awhile, then tighten it again. After a few hours of use - tighten it again. You should be good to go for 20+ years after that.

Good luck,
Dan

Thanks for the help Dan I appriciate it. I went ahead and picked up the one new hub today and the main seal as well as a new nut and one of those cork seals "#8" in the I&T manual parts section. Those aftermarket axles are tempting. Richard

I'm not Dell but,
That's the normal nut. The groove in the middle is for a special snap ring. Keeps the nut from moving.
