We are nearing completion of a restoration on a 1941 9N that my father and I started back in January. We are only able to work on it on weekends when I can go to his shop which is 180 miles from my home, so we only get a couple of weekends a month.

This weekend we started the final assembly after everything was cleaned and painted. I primed and painted everything except the sheet metal which we took to a local body shop for a more "professional" job. I found out auto body shops refuse to use tractor paint. I sent the paint and the hardner with the parts and it all came back. He said the paint was "old" and would not work well so he got auto quality paint that matched and used that. I have to admit it looks good and he only charged me what the paint cost him.

After we got it all put togather and wired it would not turn over. I spent hours grinding off paint between the starter and bell housing, under the ground wire, ect. only to find out the starter was bad. Replaced the starter with one off another of our tractors and it fired right up and sounds great. I do have one problem I will post in a seperate message that I hope I can get some advice on.

I did not take any pictures because we used a hood, gas tank, and dog legs from another unrestored tractor to get it running in case we needed to take it off to fix a leak or something. Hopefully when I get back home in two weeks we can fix a few things and put the new sheet metal on it and have the job done. I will post pictures then.
