This if off topic, but needed to pass it onto you guys and gals.

Not too long ago, my dad suffered a server stroke. Like I had only much worst. In fact CAT scan showed that he had at least three. So, after some research I found this information.

How to identify a Stroke!!

I wish that I had known this in the past. Not only when I had my stroke, but also when my father had his three. Simple three things you can do to help in determining if a stoke has occurred or something else. Please keep this information handy and learn it. You never know when it may save someone’s life.

On a side note, My Doctor told me that if you suspect that someone is having a stroke or heart attack, give him or her one aspirin. That sometimes can help immensely and won't hurt a thing.

So, print out the following and learn it, and keep it handy, the life you save maybe your loved one!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke. Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

1. *Ask the individual to SMILE.
My Dad could not even open his mouth

2. *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.
Could not even get his arm behind himself to raise off the floor.

3. *Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently, ie It is sunny out today) If he or she has trouble with any of these tasks, call 911 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

Could not tell me what day it was,, on the second occasion, that is when we called 911, but they did not transport him.

On the third occasion, the next day, they did take him and he stayed in the hospital for a month. To this day he is not the same, that stroke took away his short term memory, his ability to drive even a yard mower, his ability to make a simple lunch for him self. Plus he can not remember his extended family and people he has known for years. And no, he has been tested for Alzheimer, Strictly memory lose,,, some small part of his brain was short circuited. Conclusion,,,

After discovering that a group of non-medical volunteers could identify facial weakness, arm weakness and speech problems, researchers urged the general public to learn the three questions. They presented their conclusions at the American Stroke Association's annual meeting last February. Widespread use of this test could result in prompt diagnosis and treatment of the stroke and prevent brain damage.

Stay well,,, now, back to Fords!!!

Good advice - I had a TIA (mini stroke) once at the mall. I was with my 6 year old at the time. Luckily the man who found me knew I was having a stroke and not a heart attack. The chests compressions would not have been any fun!

One evening this summer I was reading the N board when the AC blew a fuse. I changed the fuse and came back to the N board. As I was reading the messages I realized that I did not understand what I was reading. I couldn't remember which N model or year of tractor I had. I became very alarmed. When my wife finally came home I told her of the problem. I couldn't remember my age or when I was born, the year or models of by truck etc. My mind was racing very fast and going back and forth between thoughts . I was trying to convince myself that I wasn't crazy yet. The same went on for several hours and after I fell asleep I was a little better in the morning. A week later I had a cat scan of the head and it was normal except for sinuses which I already knew about. My memory has come back but it scared the hell out of me. It probably has to do with my anxiety and panic attacks which I have had for several years.
