Got up early this morning and drove down to my favorite antique tractor boneyard to see if I could find a bumper (and just poke around). Me and my 13 year old son had a great time wondering around the old rusted tractors. Found a Monroe Rest-a-Ride seat, cyclone pre-cleaners, and a bunch of other cool stuff. One thing I couldn't pass up was a set of 19" front rims that had no stem hole corrosion, no rust pitting, and good "Ford KH" script stamped in them! I got them for $20 too.

So, no bumper today, but a good set of front rims.

You do know Tractor supply in Greenville has aftermarket front bumpers for around $100 dont you? If in need of any help in there talk to Larry. He knows enough about most things and can order anything you need. Jeff

You can see all kinds of stuff just buried. I really thought I'd hit the gold mine here, but...he's pretty savvy, inspite of the initial impression. Too bad he's not organized

Jeff - I will tell if you promise not to get the Monroe seat before I go back :-)

They have got TONS of stuff pulled and on shelves already. Just about anything you would need can be found.

I've already got a monroe EZ ride on mine, so yours is safe. Why didn't you pick it up, didn't carry your usual wad of cash?

This place sounds interesting!!

It is the Broke F just North of Commerce on highway 24. I did not get it because I forgot to take my tools (it is still on the tractor), and they charge too much to remove stuff for you. Anyone who knows me knows I am a tight wad, I don't have a lot of cash to spend on tractors so I can strike a balance and keep the wife happy ;-) It has quite a few tractors sitting around, and lots of great parts - but the shelves are CRAMMED with just about anything and everything already removed (for your convienience and cost). They are not the cheapest game in town, but sometimes you find a gem at a deal. I got some great original scripted fenders with brackets that I put on Rustbucket for $25 a piece - no real rust and very few dents! I also picked up the other scalloped wheel center I used on Rustbucket from them for $40.

It's a fun place to just go out and poke around for a morning and spend some quality time with the boy.

Oh yes, I've called them several times looking for something obscure, but I've never gone to look around. When are you headed back to get the seat?

I am not sure, I have a guy coming into town next weekend to buy my 52 8N, and Broke F is only open until 12:00 on Saturday, so it will probably be the weekend after next before I can get back out. The shock absorber looks shot, and the seat is rusted, but the hinge and clip are still working so hopefully I can repair it and put it on my 48 8N trailer queen. Do you know if parts are still available for this seat?

Depends on which parts. I know the hinge pin is interchangeable w/ the original seat, & someone on the YTmag forum found the original Monroe shock is still available. My original shock pins(one was missing)were a type of shoulder bolt I couldn"t find, so I drilled both pinholes to the same diam. & used a fine-thread G5 bolt for both pins. Also, I made my own rubber bushings from hydraulic suction hose. The rubber is a little too soft for my liking, if I can find some urethane bushings to fit I"ll 86 the rubber.
