RECENTLY PICKED UP AN APP. '47 FORD AND RUNS WELL. HOWEVER, THERE IS A VERYHEAVY BRUSH CUTTER MOUNTED ON THE THREE POINT HITCH AND, ALTHOUGH IT HAS THE OOMPH TO GET IT UP...IT FAILS TO HOLD AND GRADUALLY RETURNS TO THE DOWN POSITION. (I JHAVE NOR EXPERIMENTED WITH IT WITHOUT A LOAD ON THE THREE POINT.)

SHOULD BE AN OBVIOUS PROBLEM/SOLUTION RIGHT?

Cheap and dirty fix is to put a set of limiter chains on the hog and drive on!!!Alternate fix is to rehab the hydraulic system after running Zane's diagnostics on it.

If the implement you have on the lift is at or above the weight limits for the hydraulic system the pressure relief valve is going to sence it and start releasing oil to prevent damage to the system.

See the link below for more information on trouble shooting the lift on the N tractor. This is for the 8N but mostly the same for the 2N.

rayjo..... ....You asked... SHOULD BE AN OBVIOUS PROBLEM/SOLUTION RIGHT? ...look for squirts. Simple, eh?

Oh, you want more info? Remove yer 6" round dip-stick plate (it won't hurt you or 'nuttin') and look up inside with a flashlite while you try to lift yer "heavy" brushhog. Look for squirts. Two sources of squirts, the hydraulic piston/cylinder and the hydraulic pressure standpipe at the side of the tranny chamber where it goes thru the buttbuckett gasket. Simple, eh?

FYI..... .a good 3-point hydraulics can lift over 750# before yer frontwheels start flappin' in the air. Good 3-point hydraulics will hold implement up overnite. Most owners consider holding brushhog up for 30-mins almost braggin' rights. They start thinkin'bout re-buildin' the pump when it won't hold-up for 5-mins.

You do realize that yer hydraulic pump (and subsequent pressure) is controlled by yer PTO shifter by yer left heel, don't you? And you do realize everytime you clomp yer clodd-hoppers on the clutch pedal, the PTO stops pumpin' the hydraulic pump, don't you? And you do realize everytime yer hydraulic pump stops pumpin', yer leaky hydraulics won't continue to hold yer brushhogg up, don't you?..... ..respectfully, Dell
