I BOUGHT MY 1ST 8N (52)in june. Used it all summer and it did a great job. Now I want to store for the winter. Anyone have any tips on things they do to their tractors at the end of season before they store their tractor? I have the 8n manuals. Also right now i do not have inside storage for my tractor, How bad is it to store outside under tarps??/ I live in Upstate New York( cold and snowy ) I am still looking for inside storage though Any help Thank

As I used mine during the winter, I can't comment on winterizing. But, I wouldn't put a tarp over it. Those mices just love a nice covered warm place. Just bought a great bass boat. Left it in the barn uncovered. Craig

Stabil or Marvel Oil in the gas. Also - be sure you block the clutch pedal down. Use a piece of 1x4 or metal or a large concrete block. N series are famous for the clutch disc rusting to the flywheel over winter.

First year I had mine, I tarped it over the winter and the mice loved it under there. They chewed on everything they could sink their little teeth into. I won't do that again. I would be more inclined to just leave it outside uncovered.

Storing under a tarp can actually cause it to rust quicker than without. What happens is that moisture gets trapped under it and when it quits raining, it stays wet underneath. Get something and prop up the tarp enough so that you get some airflow under there to let it dry out.

Before I got my barn built, my Jub stayed out all winter long. Saw several days in teens and twenties. I never did anything special to her. Just made sure the antifreeze was up to snuff and topped off the gas tank. Had her covered with a tarp, and at least once a week I went out, uncovered her and tried to start her. On the real cold days she wouldn't; but on the warmer days she would. Let her run by driving around a bit to charge up the battery. Think if I were to do it again, I'd do the same, but..... ... following the suggestions in the Operator's Manual would probably be a safer bet.

Test your anti-freeze and make sure it can handle -45 or so, change oil, take out plugs and squirt a some oil in cylinders, crank it a few times with plugs out. Check you tranny/hydrauic fluid make sure there is no water in it, better yet flush and change it. 5-gallons GL-1. Put sta-bil in the gas, take your battery out in put it in a warm place or remember to charge it once in a while. I bought one of those Amish built sheds for my tractor this year last year my wifes car sat outside and the tractor went in the garage.
Where are you in Upstate NY? I near Saratoga.
