I'm far from any tractor expert, I've owned an 8N exactly 48 hours as I write this (I'll have my own problems posted after I have time to look it over this weekend), but I've been in the auto repair industry for 20 years. What concerns me on your behalf from my work experience is your statement " It was a little low on hydraulic oil so i put some in and a few hours later it ceased to operate." Sure it was the correct type of oil, and compatible with what was already in there?

Pull the inspection cover and see what moves or squirts or swirls when you move the hytrol handle...

Did it work OK before? Could be a stuck control valve, low on hydraulic oil, relief valve stuck open, etc... Or, as Ron said, is the PTO lever engaged?

If it worked fine before and just stopped working all of a sudden, I suspect it is a stuck control valve (been there done that). HTH Rick

Yes, it was fine before. It would slowly bleed off if you had it up, but slowly. It was a little low on hydraulic oil so i put some in and a few hours later it ceased to operate. PTO is engaged, I don't know what the problem is. Like I said, it used to fall slowly but now it is half way and won't move either way.
