hi was workin doin some stuff body wise to the tractor 49 8n i think someone wired in a kill switch for the points , well anyway put tractor back together finally and remonted the starter relay and the kill switch and the reistor (by the way is 12 volt convertion ) so anyway started the tractor lettin it run an warm up good ran for an hour so , went to shut it off and hmmmmm still ran ,,, any suggestions , could i have shorted the killl switch by chance,,,, thanks inadvance paul

Trace the wire from the coil.. somewhere it is going is feeding it power -after- you turnt he key off. Perfect time for a test lamp to get some use.

Bet you put something back on wrong. There should be a light or diode in the wire coming from the #1 termanal on the alternator to the switch. If it isn't there you get feed back from the alternator and thats why the engine keeps running

still org genrator but thanks goin to work it out tomorrow think might of shorted the kill switch out didnt disconnect anything just remounted in beter place ,,, thanks paul by way it is an 8n year 49

Well when you said 12 volts that almost always means an alternator. Yes there some with gennys but few. Sorry I can't help other then maybe the regulator is stuck.
