Rear axle problem again

I know this question has been covered before, but I just searched the archives for an hour with no success. (some of you guys got me a little gun shy now)anyway...
I recently replaced the inner and outer seals on my 52. Now when I go across a hillside, with the left rear wheel on the downhill side, it grinds and leaks. Is there a fix for this short of replacing the axle and hub? Thanks

Are your hubs tight on the axle? If they are tight, did you do the setup on the bearing end play (FO-4)? I just replaced the axles/hubs/bearings/brakes. I put in new shims and it required the same quanitity as were there before. I now have an occassional grinding of one of the drums with the backing plate-both were rubbing at times before. No leaks yet-only an hour of run time so far. I wonder if the new bearings have "settled in" and now are looser than what I set up. I turned both axles over several times with no shims and then with the addition of each shim (alternating sides) until there were eight in hopes of seating the bearing races. Another difference was that the shims I took out were metal and the new replacements were paper/composite of some kind. I was concerned with potential compression of the paper shims.

Did you replace the bearings? Grinding is usually a bearing problem. You also have to have the correct number and thickness of axle shims to get proper adjustment.

No I didn't replace the bearings and I just replaced the number of shims that were already there. I never thought about the bearings, so thanks for the advice.
