Recently purchased 1952 8n. Hydraulic lift works O.K.,but touch control lever moves through a very short range,ie.,lever moves perhaps 1" from lift to lower. I have manual, but would like some advice before I disassemble. Any help would be appriciated.

Make sure you check the small lever under the seat before you take things apart. It may just be set in draft control instead of position control.

I know it sounds easy, but are you sure that you are not just hitting the little block that is used to set the depth? You can go right around this block..mine has one and it is just on the control quadrant with a thumb screw. Again, I know this sounds stupid, but I have had many moments just like this...such as running down a battery because the thing wouldn't start (the key was not on) and most recently...blew oil all over the garage and driveway because I didn't have the oil filter cap tightened down...then same day droped the battery out the side of the tractor and broke off my battery terminals ouot in my 5 acre field. :)

Well, It seems that if it weren't for bad luck, I would have none at all! Just replaced the starter too...And I didn't read on here about NOT spinning the Bendix out before you put it in and the starter fell apart, so I had to reseat the brushes TWICE!!!
