Yesterday my 50 8n would only make clicking sound at the solenoid. After changing the solenoid, battery, and checking all connections and grd. cable it did the same for a few times and now no click or nothing. I have voltage at the push start button and to the solenoid but not sure what or how to check further. Any help appreciated.

Due to the construction of the 3-terminal starter solenoid, the little middle terminal that goes to the BIG starter thumb button by the tranny shifter its ALWAYS HOT. That is why you read volts at yer thumb switch. And yer starter solenoid is operated by grounding it thru the big starter thumb button.

Make certain yer tranny shifter is in NEUTRAL and you can ground yer solenoid little hard to gitt-too middle terminal with a test wire or even a screwdriver blade out at the tranny shifter. Iff'n starter motor spins, yer solenoid is good but most likely yer tranny thumb button is bad.

You did mount the 3-terminal roundcan starter solenoid with the middle terminal pointing towards the engine block hard to gitt-too, didn't you?..... ...respectfully, Dell
