I have a Dearborn Loader model 19-42. I replaced all 11 hoses on the loader, drained the remaining fluid thru the bottom drain plug, filled it up with new fluid. I started it up, ran it awhile and then checked the fluid...it looked like milk! Any idea how I can flush the system of all the gunk that is in it?

I assume this si a seperate hyd system using a stinger pump, and loader fram as a resv'er? If so.. sounds like it has collected lots of moisture.

I'd grab a can of seafoam tranny conditioner, as it 'de-waters' and then buy the cheapest oil i could find... anything... 30w.. 10w30.. R&O hyd aw32 aw 46... transdraulic.. anything 30w and thinner.. whatever is cheapes... check wallmarts prices..

Add treatment to the 'milk' you now have. Then run to mix.. drain.. allow to drip... refill.. run to mix... drain.. check drainings. If it is clean.. go back with whatever you are using for fluid.. Most likely any of the ones I mentioned are fine.

Thanks, I think I'll stop at NAPA and pick some up. I was actually thinking of trying a gallon or 2 of kerosene to flush the system, but I'll try the Sea foam stuff first!

GOT MILK in reply to Randy Bagrowski, 11-21-2005 09:10:36
Diesel izz 'bout the only thing I have seen that will werk, try 50/50 run'er sum and drain. More than likly it will take to flushizz to clean it.
I use to have a elevator repairman that kept me supplied in clean used hydraulic fluid but have not seen’em in years, would make a guess that he befriended a surgical tool clean’in guy at Duke are Carolina and wuz supply’in’em with it. It wuz sure nice to have when a trans cooler leaked and the trans got water in it. 50/50 hydraulic fluid and diesel 2 flushes and clean as new. Sounds like ya “GOT MILK”

While kero is a great flush for some things.. I hesiotate to run it thru pumps as it has little lubricity compaired to a hyd fluid.. also.. it's vapor pressure is way lower.. meaning you could get cavitation.. thus ruining your pump. Doesn't take very long either for cavitation to kill a pump.. etc..

The seafoam is made to de-water safely, and carry moisture out in soloution.. rather than just in suspension...etc.

Thats why I would not go straigt deisel and only werk the lift a few times then drain it. It will mix fast so no need to let it set. Utter than that he may haveta live with it.
