I just bought a 1954 NAA and found that the oil in the transmission looked like milk. I am draining it now. What is the best stuff and procedure for cleaning the old stuff out.

I used kerosene. Drain the old oil, remove the top shifter cover (watch out for the spring that is being held in place by the rear of the shifter cover), and spray some kerosene in there with a cheapo pump sprayer. Since the gears are in the way, it will be difficult to get down there and do a thorough mop up job with paprer towels, so you may need to use more kerosene than normal.

Good luck,
Dan

I grab a jug of paint thinner (denatured mineral spirits), a parts brush, and get after it. Lots of rags to sop it out. Sop out the crud, rinse it a couple times and you"re good to go. No big deal.
"Denatured" means it doesn"t smell up the place like some other solvents, which is nice.
