With the onset of cold weather I just want to remind all who keep their N outside tha the tires may/will freeze to the ground. The first gear you should go into is reverse to break them free and to prevent the machine from wheelying over on you. Put a chunk of firewood under the backblade to keep it from freezing to the ground.

Thank you for posting this, Pitch! I need to print it out and put it up where I can see it once my tractor is running. I especially never thought about the blade freezing to the ground!! (I am new to the really cold winters of the northern plains; I was shocked to find cinder blocks frozen to the ground last year. Never thought of what that means in terms of vehicles. . . ) --

good reminder
i have a friend of mine that went to plow one day and the only reason he didn't go over when his tires froze to the ground was the fact that he had the back blade on and it kept the front tires from coming too far off the ground. that's why i put mine in the shed face in, that way i HAVE to back out. if the tires freeze to the ground, they'll break lose without a problem.

Wife does the snow clearing with the 2n and round bale feeding with the IH 666 while I'm at work. I do the same, always nose them in, so she HAS to back out. Not likely ever to go wrong, since i leave the 6' blower on the 2n and the 666 has a loader and bale spike, but who knows?
