Anyone know what this bracket might have been to? I took it off of my 2N's rear axles so I could put the brackets for my Dearborn dozer blade/snow plow. The numbers on it are, I think, D0 8664.

Thanks!

Mike

Yep, old is correct. From the looks of them no one has used a stabilizer bar on that tractor for a loooong time. If you don't think you'll use them, I'd be interested in buying them.

Looks like the barcket for the anti sway bars for the 3 point. Some call them sabilizer bars. You should have 2 of them one each under the fenders.

OK, that helps! Thanks! What were they used with? Will I want them for when I find a plow & disk? I do have two, but wasn't able to get the other side off til I got another tool so I can get the big square head nuts off, the other side were hex that I did have a socket for, but I needed an adapter for a bigger socket for the square head ones.

Thanks!

Mike..... ....NO SWAY-BARS with yer plow. Yes, use swaybars with yer other ground tillage equipment, brushhoggs and other 3-point attachments as necessary. I just us 1-bar with my 3-point pick'em-up and hoist..... ...Dell

Sometimes a crescent wrench will work on square nuts.

Stabilizer bars are nice for lots of different implements...anything you don't want swaying side to side. I use them on my back blade, box blade, boom pole, pallet forks, hay rake.....heck, I use them on EVERYTHING!

Thanks for all the info!! I guess I'll keep them then. Can someone post a pic of how they attach to the 3 point? I'm guessing that I'm going to need some extra bars to use it with.

Got the blade mounted today! Works good now. Took a while since I had to fab up a couple of things, but it's working great now. I just need to adjust the rear limiting chains, is all now. I'll try to take a pic or two & post it later. Now that I've got it all mounted it's supposed to get in the 50's & 60's for the next few days!! Oh well, I'll need it soon, I'm sure.

Thanks again everyone!

Mike

Extra pin bracket in reply to old, 11-25-2005 19:18:44
old,
Ever see one of them brackets (I think the left side) that has one regular pin and another pin mounted in a swivel ball (like on the ends of the lift arms)? Got one out in the shed and don't have the slightest idea what it's fer.

Only one I have ever seen like that was on a 501 ford mower, I even still have it but not the whole mower, just a part here and there.

Jim (nice name!) has it right. I believe some Dearborn mowers also used that bracket. If you don't have any use for it, you should clean it up, paint it bright red and put it on ebay. You'll sell it and have cash for Christmas. I usually even put a new pin, new lynch pin and chain on first. Makes it look brand new and people fall all over themselves trying to buy it.

That's why I was trying to con Mike out of his set. A fresh coat of paint and some new pins and that pair of brackets would bring at least $40 on ebay. Your one bracket with swivel eye will probably fetch $25 or more.

One of the brackets as shown for the left side and the one with the swivel ball for the right side. Many of the Dearborn sicle bar mowers for the 3 point (in the rear) used these. My model 14-16 used these. it attaches to the swivel on the rt side. I attach a stablilizer bar on the left side to help when in heavy hay.

Hi The bracket with the ball may be for a mower for the ferguson tractor. When I was a child we had a mower that had a rod that mtd there which was part of the breakaway system in case you hit a stump or tether pin or some obstruction. The angle would change when the mower blade pulled back hence the ball mounting. Jim W
