The 8N I have, has 6.00 X 16 tires. They are to wide to give good clearance to the grease fitting. Anyone tell me what is the original tire size?

My 8N came to me with a Wagner loader on it. Someone replaced the original tires with wider, heavy-duty truck tires to help support the extra weight on front. Problem was, the sidewall was rubbing against the steering knuckle. Their solution was to put two washers on each lug stud, thereby moving the wheels further out on the hub and avoiding the side rub. While I am not recommending this as a solution, I will say that mine's been that way for over 25 years now with no apparent ill effects. Something to consider - easy & cheap.

Not a good idea. The center hole in the rim is designed to carry the load. The lugs are there to hold the rim on the hub.Proper rims are the answer.600/16 6 ply tires fit fine on my 600 with no rubbing.

I disagree. It is a good idea and does not cause a problem on the 8N.

Quickfix is to take your wheels off and put them on "backwards"..turn the rims around.

Sage..... .....kinda depends. yer 8N's original 16" tire was a 5.5x16 on a 4x16 rim. Later optional H/D tires were 6.0x16 on 5x16 rim for front end loader work.

You do know you can gitt replacement Zerk greese fittings that come at 45 & 90 angles don't you?

And while you do need to occasionally greese yer frontaxle spindles, I'll bettcha iff'n ya take yer frontwheel OFF, greesin' yer spindles be a piece'o'cake..... .....respectfully, Dell
