Final update on the Rat shack antenna deal. History, was lied to the first time about antenna being in stock, said on phone it was in, picked up the wrong one. took it back, did my online research and finally got a manager on the phone. She assured me that the desired one would be in store by 4 pm today. Did I drive up to check at 4? NOPE< I called and made them read me the part number and stock number off the box. Went and got it and assembled it, worked fine.

Got to looking at it, it is the basic UHF/VHF antenna that they sell now. Comparied it to the one I got from them about 4 or 5 years ago and they have changed big time. Mine is I bet 3 feet longer, more large VHF and more UHF ears. And this one cost more than the one I have.. Oh well, it does work!

not trying to stir up any more on that topic, but just final update..

Thanks for letting me rant! ;-)

Oh yea, Just say HO!!!

Glad you finally got what you were looking for. I have gone the route you have myself at other stores: calling first- being told they had what I was looking for - and then find out they didn't have it when I got there. Boy that makes me boil. As far as your antenna not looking the same as your old one.... I wouldn't worry too much about that as long as you get good reception. 45 years ago when I studied antenna designs, as I remember, there are several combinations and configurations that can be use and they all worked. In other words they are all good, only some are better than others. {:>)

Ok, I give up!!! you studed antenna design 45 years ago,, shoot, I am a kid. For me it was only 35 years ago!! Was first class radiotelephone license holder- with radar endorsment (never used that ) and built all my CB and TV antennas. And a couple of shortwave for friends. Also did maintenance on a 100,000 watt FM stereo xmitter. The only thing I would not do was climb the tower to replace lights,, we contracted that out.

Been a long time huh? :-)

OCB Yeah, it was more years than I care to remember. I was 21 when I got my 1st class FCC license with the ship radar endorsement. Renewed my license several times until they quit doing that. Must say you got more use out of yours than I did mine, but it was nice to have. Sure do miss my school days at DTI - Chicago.
