Well if the cylinder is fireing then the plug should be dry, unless of course your turning the engine over with out the ignition being turned on. A wet plug makes me think that cylinder isn't fireing.

Two possibilities I can think of. First your input valve on cyl #1 is stuck in the closed position and does not allow any gas to enter cylinder. In this case you are not getting any power from this cylinder. Second possibility is that #1 cylinder is getting gas but it is burning it properly whereas cyl 2,3,4 are not burning all the gas (weak sparls) and you see the residue. I would bet on the first one.

You must have meant to say that the intake valve is stuck open because valves don't stick closed. The cam won't allow that unless perhaps the lobe of the cam is worn completely off and the it will not open but probably is not stuck.

When an intake valve sticks open it is almost impossible to start the engine with the starter because no vacuum can be generated on account of the open intake valve. When and if you can get the engine started with a stuck intake valve it will run really bad for the same reason. Poor vacuum.

Yes, I agree. I had my thinking cap on the wrong way. Sorry for any confusion and thanks for correcting me. That makes more sense.

Start the engine. While it"s idling, remove the No. 1 spark plug lead. If the engine idle speed changes...No. 1 isn"t firing and you have a problem. If no change...then no problem. Go plowing.

You may Have a leaking Intake manifold( cracked ) or a leaking intake gasket.I have to disagree with a previous post.If the engine is running idle and # 1 plug wire is disconnected and then the engine slows # 1 was firing prior to disconnect. It is also possible that #1 is firing on a lean mixture due to air leakage resulting in low power from that one cylinder.
