I've written several post expounding on the merits of L-4 Liquid Wrench as it has been glorified in the Dec. issue of Popular Mechanics Magazine. So yesterday I went to my friendly WalMart to get a can. They have Liquid Wrench, but not the L-4. Went to Advance Auto Parts, TSC, Autozone..they all have Liquid Wrench, but none have ever heard of L-4. So now, I'm gonna contact the mfg'er to see if its really available. Sorry if I gave out some bad..Ron

I doubt you can beat this stuff. It really penetrates. Get it at gun shops and WalMart gun cleaning shelf.

Ron,
I did a little searching for you online. You can buy it directly from the manufacturer in 9 oz cans, $6.28 a can.
Click the link below, put "Liquid Wrench L4" in the search box. Don't panic, it says $50+ but that's a 6 pack (lifetime supply, anyone?). If you click "Order online", you can also select individual cans.

Thanks for the info. I went to the Gunk site and discovered under the heading of "where to buy", that my local NAPA store stocks it. So I called them and he said he had "a can" for $5.95. NAPA and Smyth were the only local auto stores that I didn't check for it. Gonna have to brave this sno-storm tomorrow morn and stop by and get it....Thanks again...Ron

It's good to know I could go to NAPA for it, since there are a few stores in my area. I'll have to pick a can up myself to see how good it is.

Have you ever tried tranny fluid?? I've found it works as good if not better then PB and a lot of other things and cost a lot less.

Mix the ATF with Kero or diesel about 50-50 and you will have the best rust cutter there is but it is a little corrosive, handle with care.

Well if I mix it with any thing I use turpentine, even better the the Kero or diesel.

I use PB Blaster now, but the article about the Liquid Wrench L-4 was so intriguing that I had to try it and also because at the moment, I am trying to remove the bottom bolts from the shocks on our EZGO golf cart and Pb, wd-40, and 30wt oil doesn't seem to work. Next I am going to try the trans. fluid and Marvel oil to see if it is any better. But first, I need to buy a BF vise grip to hold the itty-bitty (1/4" flat) at the bottom....Ron

If you can't find the l-4 get some Kroil. So far it's the best I've ever seen. It makes PB Blaster look like glue. Only problem is you have to order it unless you live in Nashville. They usually have a buy one get one free but shipping changes all of that.

One of the things I've done is knock the rust loose where the nut hits bottom. Then spray only a small bit of Kroil on both sides. Let it sit 20-30 seconds and the nut will come right off 99% of the time.

I've never found it either. I wonder if it's like Kroil and not sold by retail outlets. At least not around these parts.
