This is the second time I lost all the gas into the oil pan. I guess the float is sticking...my shut off valve at the gas tank will not shut off the gas and is extremely hard to get to. How hard to fix the float or any where I can get a new gas shut off valve...it bolts right to the gas tank and is a plunger type. Thanks for any imput.

Carberator is not at fault.Leaving the gas turned on is the problem.A speck of dirt is all it takes to let gas flood the engine.Hair will get thru the screens. If your valve is leaking onto the engine a bad o ring will do it.One o ring is between the valve body and tank.A second o ring is on the vavle shaft. The shaft has an aluminum rivet that limits its travel.Drill the rivet out, remove the valve shaft and replace the o ring.A sheet metal screw can replace the aluminum pin.You can leave the gas turned on 99 times and get away with it, the next time the gas will fill the crank case.I have found that Marvel Mystery Oil will have a bad effect on the o ring making it hard to turn the valve on.I always shut the valve finger tight but needed a screwdriver to open it when 2 oz of mmo was added to gas.Adding more gas freed up the valve.

Shut off valves are a pain to get to, but it's gotta be done. It gets a little easier if you remove the valve cover first. If you decide to do that you might want to get a valve cover gasket in stock before you start.

Shut off valves seem to be about $40, but Kelly Jewell has had some for about $23 recently. I haven't tried one yet, but next time I do I'll certainly give it a shot. $17 is $17!

Most likely the needle valve not the float, could just be something stuck not letting it close all the way. Either way your in for a carb kit. Fuel valves are readily avilable on this site or e-bay

He should put some oil in each cylinder before he starts it after a wash job like that. Maybe 2 tbs in each?

i agree.. I'd add some tranny oil or motor oil to the cyls.. and bump the engine over a rev before adding the plugs back in..

Also. NH sells those fuel valves.
