OT, of course. Wife got me a set of Black and Decker battery powered hand tools for Christmas, I know, How do I know? Well, she took me with her when she went to pick them up. Set includes Drill/screw driver, small Trim saw, jig saw, Reciprocating saw, flash light, etc. Comes with three of the 19 volt batteries. Question I came up with is, since my barn/shop is not heated should I store the batteries in the house to prevent possible freezing? The pages and pages of instructions say not to freeze the batteries, so , just was wondering what your thoughts and experiences were on this. Oh, I live near Fort Worth Texas and we do get freezes, but nothing like up north.

On another note, I had posted some time back that I was reworking the barn/shop and putting in cabinet bases along two walls for storage and work bench area. Project is going, but slower than I had expected. Got the bases in place and most of them anchored. Next is get the top cut to fit and attach that. And, yes I will post pictures when I get it done.

On another another note, looking more and more like I will be getting out of the tractor business sooner than later. Daddy's farm is where the tractors are now, His big old Case/IH and mine for now. I really don't have use for either one of them when the farm is gone. He is not doing so hot and Mother and all of us brothers are just holding our collective breaths waiting for the inevitable. Once he passes, mother will more than likely move into assisted living apartment and sell the land. :-(

So, won't have use or place for tractors. None of the brothers have use or place for either of them either, so we may just sell his big one and I have offers on the Ford already. Shoot, just thought, won't need either of his yard mowers or other power equipment either... Oh well...

Anyway,,,, Have a Good Holiday and Keep smiling,, makes the World wonder what you are up to. :-)

ole - I live about 35 miles east of Big D so I know the weather - maybe a hard freeze every other year before returning to about 80 degrees the next day. Do not let the batteries freeze - its obviously not good for them. I keep my accessory batteries in the house all year round summer and winter when not in use. That Texas heat can cause a lot of damage too.

I froze a NiCad battery last winter and it popped its case open when it thawed out. Not good. Nasty stuff inside those cases, I suspect. Besides which, those dam batteries are expensive!
