Al..... ..lets make certain we're on the same page. P2 is connected by a very short wire to the BIG BATT terminal back of alternator.

The BIG BATT terminal is connected thru yer ampmeter to yer battery charge wire, which is connected to 1-terminal of the 2-terminal power distribution block under yer ampmeter and then down to the BIG BATT CABLE at yer starter solenoid.

P1 is connected thru the idiot-lite to the ignition switch ON terminal of the 2-terminal power distribution block which also supplies power to the roundcan ignition coil thru the 12v-6v converting resistor.

Now, heres whachadoo. DRAW a pictorial of what I just described on a brown paper bag (make-itt BIG) so you can write and draw and LABLE things. Doesn't haffta be fancy with straight lines, use sloppy boxes and squiggle wires but LABLE EVERYTHING, at both ends of the wire. (ignore all other internet drawings for time being 'cuz ya just gittchur-self confused) I want you to UNDERSTAND how yer electrical stuff is supposed to be connected so it works.

Now then, draw a pictorial of yer current electrical system as you've described it in this message. See iff'n yer mistake is OBVIOUS NOW.

(hint: yer idiot-lite is connected to the "wrong" side of yer 12v-6v converting resistor)

and DO NOT WIRE yer headlites thru yer weak-sister ignition switch. There is a popular 12v conversion wiring diagram floating around the internet that has the headlite switch powered thru the ignition switch. Did I tell you? DO NOT WIRE yer headlites thru yer ignition switch 'cuz itt'll BURN-OUT yer weak-sister ignition switch; cause weak sparkies and hard starting. Understand? ..... ..respectfully, Dell

I'm not Dell but, thats why I use diodes instead of the little lite. Some of them don't have enough resistence and because of that you get your run on problem. Thats why I say idiot lites are for idiots.
