Ardie..... ....I know what you wrote makes sense to you, but this great N-Board doesn't charge by how many words you use to describe your problem. I flunked mindreading, just ask my ex-wife of 32yrs.

How do you know your governor is NOT the problem? Prove-it!
How do you know your distributor is NOT the problem? Prove-it!

BOTH the governor and the distributor can be the basis for your complaint of "will NOT accelerate". But so can dragging brakes and miss-adjusted carburator. Prove your assertions..... ....respectfully, Dell

48 is a 8N...Tell us more. Was it running then just started doing this or has it been sitting for years..etc..What about gas? Is it flowing a steady stream to the carb. and through the carb.? Have you checked the filters?
