My *N has been giving me a little trouble in the starting department. I did my last cut about two months ago and used it for about 4 to 5 hours stright. I removed the 5" Howse and she wouldn"t start up again, I had a dead battery, I jumped it and it started right up. About a week ago I tryed to start her and nothing not even the dead battery noise. Tryed to jump it again and still nothing, kept messing with it and out of the blue it started right up as thou nothing had happened. Do I have a starter problem? Thanks and Happy New Year, guys.

What do you mean by messing with it? Playing with the starter button or the starter itself?

I have experienced a problem where my starter would bind up against the flywheel. When this would happen, it would seem as if the battery was completely dead because nothing would happen when I would try to start the tractor. If you listened really closely, you could hear a slight humming sound coming from the starter. I re-torqued the starter bolts and it has seemed to of corrected the problem. The temporary solution to unbind the starter is to turn the key off, put the tractor in third gear, rock it a few times and then it will usually start right up. HTH

Could be bad brushes in the starter but why not start at the cheap and go to the high $$. Remember clean tight and brite at all connections. Clean your battery terminals and the places the cable botl to the soliniod and ground. Sounds more like you have a nad connection some place.
