Anyone know much about this model Yanmar tractor. Buddy bought one at what we think was a really good price. $2000. Easy starting and runs good. Looks to be in really good shape. Good paint. 3/cyl. 4-wheel drive. Good tires. He just got the thing with no papers of any kind except for a bill of sale. I surfed the archives and the only thing I could find is that some JD's (made in Germany) had the 3cy. Yanmar diesel engines. Thanks in advance...Ron

The John Deere 800 series compact tractor is about the same as that one. I bought engine parts for one from JD a couple of years ago.

My son in law still cuts grass with it.

The air cleaner is very important to keep clean and replaced to prevent early ring failure.

Don't know anything about the Yanmars but the 3 banger Kubotas are darn near bullet proof and that would be a very good price for a 4wd Kubota with modest hours. My little B7200's approaching 3000 hours and the motor still runs strong. I've pushed it way past it's spec'd design limits and the only failure was a cracked tranny case and stripped diffy ring gear. Likely caused by operating and transporting a #800 mower on the 3pt (load limit #500). Now I just tow it - right ;-) Parts for the Kubota are inexpensive and readily available. Found an online site that sells at about a 20-30% discount off the dealerships and drop ships straight from Kubota for a flat rate $5.

YMMV,

TOH

I think they are good tractors for the price. The catch is that if you ever need a part (assuming you can find it) be prepared to spend big bucks; the bargain sales price is suddenly null and void.
