I asked you guys a week or so ago which was the correct plow for a 49 8n ford. I found a plow at my uncles neighbors house but wasn't sure if it was the correct one, i found another picture of one just like it, i put it in the implement photos section, could you guys look at it and tell me if this would be the correct plow for my tractor?

I don't know what anyone else thinks but I don't see how either plow could be right or wrong for a tractor that wasn't supplied with a plow. I understand that the Fergueson plow was "available" for the 9N and 2N tractors and that Dearborne was "available" when the 8N's were produced, but I'm sure at that time you could have bought either for the 8N, and it would work just fine. I myself have a double 14 Fergueson for my Jubilee and the tractor doesn't know the difference. Looks like you've found a nice one for your tractor.

Looks like the Dearborn economy plow. Here's a pic from the parts book.

Hey Mitch:

Have you looked for a name plate on the plow? It would be a small metal plaque & have "Dearborn", a model#, & a serial# on it. From the frame we can tell it is a model 10-15"X". To identify the "X" we'll need to see the plow bottoms from the other side, and you'll have to measure the distance from one landside edge to the other. Should be 10, 12, or 14".

The "economy plow" was Dearborn's 2nd generation series of plows, designed to be less expensive to produce & therefore less expensive for the farmer to buy. Several frame parts previously cast were now stamped steel. Also, the plow point that was expensively forged before got replaced by an inexpensive cast "razor" point.

Tim Daley is the expert on the Dearborn plows. He'll probably chime in w/ more details when he sees your posts.

Jeff

If it is a 12" you have a model 10-152(economy bottoms)or 10-153(sod or clay bottoms).

It depends some on where you are, but I paid $150 for my Ferguson plow w/ no coulters or tail wheel. If I saw the plow pictured above(I think Dan posted it for you)around here I would offer $200 but go up to $250 if necessary.

Here it is to save some folks from having to hop over.

Looks kinda like a Dearborne two bottom plow to me, which would be the correct plow for an 8N. But, I will admit I am not well versed in Dearborne plows as I have a Ferguson.
