I thnk I cood be of assistance if you be so kind as to assit. My fother, who was minister of industry undil late he died during industrial revolution in Nigeria had access to such records. His company stored records for many countries in case of nuclear war for safe keeping, include ford tractor company. Unfornate storage feies have access tied up. If you could send $100US I could get records and find info you need. We could then start busness together selling same info to others. All I would need would be small start up US$$ and would split all monies with you 50/50. Send me you e-mail so I can tell you where to send monies. Please do soon as others are also interested and you may los out!

Even if it was possible to obtain this information, it may be illegal to do so (without the original owner’s permission).

We live in a day and age where rules and regulations, i.e. privacy laws, seem to go to extremes.

However, for a small fee you can obtain someone else’s cell phone records :-).

It is important to know that Ford Tractors were sold through distributors and then through dealers. For instance, our Columbia, Missouri dealer was served by the distributor which was Ozark Tractor Co. of Springfield, Missouri. So the only records Ford in Dearborn might have had would be the serial numbers of tractors sold to the distributor. I remember the Springfield guys coming to our farms near Columbia twice to put on major demonstrations, first of the 600-800 and later of the 6000. Wish that Zane would comment on this from his angle. Mike-Iowa

I believe that I read that the original records at Ford were destroyed in a fire, so that might make it harder to find out where it was originally sold.

I read and saw the "destroyed at Ford in a fire" many times before with reguard to paint codes but till now not reguarding anything else, it even made at least one of the MBI Ford Tractor books. Never found the the location of the fire nor what burned. One of the folks posting here said NH had told him they had a fire, was it the subject one? At any rate, the records never indicated ownership of Ford tractors anyway. Also, companys were required only to keep records for just 7 years, some more important items 14 years at which time those items were scrapped or incinerated (fire?). Archices at FMC kept records of their choosing but they likely were of historic or great importance or of value to customer service only. So far as paint codes destroyed in a fire, many older established automotive paint stores have the chip charts saved in the mixing room. I have at least 3-4 of them and they are even some on the net. Only tractor company I know of that has ownership records is John Deere.

Not impossible, as long as it hasnt changed hands too many times. I have a 52 as well, painted yellow. At auction the Long Island state park commision painted over there name on both sides of the hood. The lettering was raised ,so you could still make it out. Still has the lot number painted on. I sanded the paint off the lettering, now its nice and easy to read. I dont know if I want to repaint to the red and gray, I feel i would be eraseing its history. Her belly needs paint really bad. The owner i bought it from used it around his gas station, pushing cars and pulling engines. When I got it ,it had no lower lift arms,Im guessing they were removed to mount a belly or sickle bar mower.

It maybe possiable to do but not likly. With tractors there isn't the paper trail like on cars. I have one tractor that I can find out where it was sold and then theres a 5 year gap in the history. Its a 1935 tractor and I know its history from 1940 till now but those 5 years that are missing who knows where it was or who owned it. Plus the person that did own it is sure to be dead now so the makes it even harder. By the way the only reason I know about this tractor is because it was my grandfathers

Did you know on the JD's you can find out where it sold new and I believe how it was equipped?? It's thru one of the 2 cylinder clubs(forget which one),but it's $15 or $20 to have them pull it up and they will send you a certificate stating the info..I've meant to do that on my `38 unstyled A but haven't gotten it done yet.. I know mine (JD)spent most of it's life in Nebraska, but thats all I know about it..

Now how did you know I was talking about a JD, LOL Well I had the info on who the dealer was and when it went to him from where. It was dropped off in K.C. by train back in 1935 and then went to a dealer in south east KS. From there we don't know till 1940 when my grandfather got it and then it went to the norteast corner of OK till around 1978 now its in Missouri in my shed

Hey Tim you want to buy my 1935 JD-B I only want $100,000.00 for it. Yep a $100,000.00 not a penny less, by order of my mom. It was her dads tractor. And what mom says I listen to. You think I'll ever get that for it LOL

You take a check?? LOL Might have a hard time gettin that, but I know about sentimental value..My 8N was my dads who is now gone,so yeah,it's priceless.. I gotta do pushrod tubes on my A, was gettin water in the oil,so I did a head gasket right after i got it,but it's still getting in there,at least I'm hoping it's just the tubes and not a cracked block..

Tim, I still think you need to come out hereand buy that loader I have, and maybe a few other things I have out here. Depending on what I find out about the 9N I got in yesterday it may end up being parted out, not sure right now. It doesn't have any oil preassure and seems to have a little bit of a knock. I'm going to try to put air preassure in the oil pan and see if that works to get oil preassure, I hope if does and then I'll go from there.

Wouldn't that be sweet? I'd like to get the same information! I think, but am not positive, that a fellow on this forum who used to work in the Ford tractor division said all those records were destroyed in a fire at some point. But I'm going to watch and see if you get another response that indicates otherwise, as I'd like to know, too. :-) --Dawn
