I recently bought a 9N and a 19-21 loader with many other implements. The loader was not on the tractor (and I now believe that it was never on this tractor) when I bought it. In preparing to install it, I bought the manuals for both and the Dearborn manual indicates that it has been especially designed for use on the Model 8N Ford Tractor. Therefore, the first question - are these compatible? Second, how can I get my hand on some of the brackets, pins, etc. required to install the loader?

The only problem that you may run into is the early 9N's had a cast iron front axle pivot support and a pivot pin held in with a set screw from the top, the loader may need the later stamped steel support with the teardrop pin that has a bolt in to the front to hold it in.

You are describing exactly the difference I'm seeing when comparing the manuals to what I see on the tractor. Is there a solution for this that you know of?

You would need to get a used support from a later 9N or 8N and make plates and drill holes in the support to fasten your hood side panels as the later ones had a bolt going in sideways instead of 2 inside on yours going front to back.

Joel, Ankeny tractor is a good place, however I heard their about to shut the doors after 40 plus years. A dam shame. Theres Colfax tractor salvage in Colfax Iowa, where I found mine which I don't use but, won't sell. Theres Tom Foggerty at Fonda Iowa 712 462 2522. There is also a ford dealer in Harlan Iowa That I have no info on. otherwise it's drive the country side and look. JohnIA

Joel:

Yes they are compatible, but the brackets are harder to find than the loaders. I've had some luck w/ Ankeny Tractor for these parts. Others may chime in w/ some ideas.

If you have access to a fabricator you might have more luck making the parts. Some folks on this site have pics of the brackets to work from.

Jeff

I bought a 9N with a Dearborn a few months ago. It's been awhile since I looked, but I'm pretty sure it's a 19-21. If you want a pic of any certain part or area let me know!
