Old girl put away for winter in Nov as directed in manual. Needed to get her out and grade the driveway after heavy rains recently. Changed all the fluids new gas charged batt (out of tractor its very hot now). Turned her over, nothin starter turns over just NO SPARKIES any plug. Checked ignition switch yep bad, bypassed still no sparkies.

Regaped points verified that points open and close still no sparkies. Checked all wires clean bright and tight. Checked voltage with meter have 6V at primary of coil and at stud at dist but still no sparkies. Any ideas fellas? When I put her away I ran her till she ran out of gas so the carb wouldn"t varnish over. She started right up when I ran her prior to storage.

Thanks Bob she fired right up only a couple of revs of the starter. I didn"t think the points would be dirty, I"m learnin new things all the time with this old girl. Well I"ll be moving gravel tomorrow.

I love this forum!!

Yes it was!! I went out yesterday to fire her up to move the gravel around after getting new key switch. Pushed the starter button and Varoom! she started up right now I don't even think the starter made one rev. She's never done that b4!!
Can't wait to get home today and do some more tractor work!

Bet if you put in a new set of points and condenser it will fire right up. Your points have probably correded from sitting, very common for them to do that.

Try drawing a clean piece of white cardstock through the points a few times to polish them up.

If possible, then, with the points open, give them a shot of electrical contact cleaner (and allow it to dry, with the points remaining open), or a shot of canned air computer duster, to get any remaining fuzz off of the contact surfaces..
