I really have been having a tough time getting on and off my 9N because of bad knees. I think knee replacement may not be too far off.

Has anyone seen plans for a running board or similar item that I could attach to my tractor?

Thanks
Ron

2 options.. Get a set of boards that hang on the foot pegs, or modify a set of 8n boards. The 8n boards will attach wher ethe foot peg cap is.. then you just have to finagle the back bracket a little.

I feel your pain. I"m 52 years old with bad knees. I spent 20 years in the U.S. Air Force working on Jet Fighters. The cause of my knee problems is from kneeling on the cold pavement while working on the flightline. For you younger people, take care of yourself and remember the body will wear out.

I spent 3 years on the flightline (F4s). Almost done my knees in, too. Used the tech manual when possible for knee pads, if it didn't raise ya up too high. I don't miss it at all. Of course, now there are other issues,...hearing, eyes, joints...etc..Later,

I spent 7 1/2 years on the F-4D's. I feel your pain and the Phantom bites you received. I do have to admit, I miss them birds.

I did the same thing one sunday morning at RAF Lakenheath, I was tied down on the trim pad and I was not gonna pass up the opportunity to move both throttles up to max A.B. Man my knees were shaking when I climbed down out of the cockpit acft 66-243. Remember how they could tell that you went above 80 or 85%? The engines started to howl. Gotta love them Phantoms. But they did work a poor Crew Chief to death. "Hey gotta fuel leak, please remove panel 48"

I was under the a/b when the guy running the engines told me over the headset, "WATCH THIS!!"..... WOW!!! Could look at the rear rotor section of the engine and see the stationary blades thru the white hot skin with the bay doors down. Two cones of blue flame shooting 20 - 30 ft. out. Still fresh on my mind. I was walking on air for the next hour. I got my run license later, never got the opportunity to return the favor. The cockpit run gave you a good idea of the power involved. That was the place to be if possible. Enuff remenicing. Later.
