How do I polorize the generator on my 2N? I have a 47 2N with 6v, positive ground and a cut-out can. I have been on the archives trying to figure it out but it is still not clear in my mind. It seems they are talking more about 8N's and relays. I was thinking that somewhere I read that all I need to do is short the two terminals on the cutout. Just want to be sure, b4 I blow up something.
Thanks in advance

This polarizing bit is not needed.Kind of like teaching a dog to bark.

Yea, you got it right. Use long handle pliers & jump the cut out.

Think about it.. sw on OR off makes absolutely -0- difference. sw just controlls current flow to ignition coil.. don't have a thing to do with the charging system...

You are right again SouNdguy. On the tractor, the relay is connected directly to the battery and does not go through the ignition switch. I guess I am just too accustomed to working on cars where pretty much everything gets power via the ignition switch. Anyway, it won't hurt if he does it with the key on.

Not a bit, as the key is out of the loop so to speak.
