I have an 8N that has a very small oil leak at the axle nut on the end of the hub. What do I need to get it from leaking?

First thing I would do is pull the stick and see how much hydraulic fluid you have in the sump. Better yet, remove the bottom bolt in the inspection cover (the same cover that has the dip stick) and let any excess oil run out (into a pan of course). If your sump is even slightly overfilled that could be the reason for your axle leak.

You might want to check out John Smith's exellent website. Look under the maintenance and repairs tab for rear axle seal replacement. It doesn't sound like you need a complete rebuild but the site will help you understand what all is in there.

Patrick, there is a cork sleeve that you slide on the axle splines just before you install the hub that is supposed to keep this from happening....Kelly
