I have a way to read RPM of PTO but not engine. On a 9-N with a PTO speed of 350 RPM, does any one know the ratio engine to PTO? What would my engine be turning? Thanks Joe

536 PTO RPMs is just under 15k engine RPMs. So, I would say a PTO RPM of 350 would be close to an engine RPM of around 12k or so.

HTH,
Dan

Yep - must have been enjoying the Superbowl last night a little too much :-) Actually, I am currently rebuilding an original Proofmeter, and happened to have it sitting right in front of me at the time. The markings are just "15" and "12" around the edge, that is what threw me off.

Nice catch though.

Multiplying PTO RPM X 2.75 will get you pretty close to engine RPM, so @ 350 PTO RPM, engine speed will be very close to 962.5 RPM's

Thanks to all and Bob I did not know that ratio. I have an old (shucks all my stuff is old) Starret tack(?) gage. works on any turning shaft, hold for 60 seconds count revolutions and add number on scale. hard to describe but it works great.

Old9,

I have one of those old Starrett units, too.

They don't look like much in today's digital age, but they work well!
