MY dad just inherited a 8n ford. We think that it is a 1948 model it has the red body with the grey fenders and gas tank. We have done some minor painting to it. but do not know any knowlage of the workings of a ford all we have ever used is allis challmers. I was wondering what type of oil was used in the transmission. (weight) and a we drained oil at two plugs but only saw one oil fill close to the seat is there another one

First you need to buy a repair manual for your tractor. They are available at most New HOlland dealers and on this site. Also, if you do a search you might find all you answers already in other postings. It takes Ford 134d hydraulic oil to refill everything, but you might want to take off a side inspection plate and see if you have any crud in there that should be cleaned out.

Hey Roger,welcome..

you've got 3 drains for the hydraulics/diff,drain all 3,and one fill'em up by the shifter..somewhere around 4 3/4 gallons of GL-1..pull the bottom bolt out of the round inspection cover behind yer feet and fill it til it runs out that hole..any more and you will oil your breaks if your rear seals are weak..
