Last weekend we exhibited at our first tractor show in the Carl Sandburg Mall in Galesburg, IL hosted by Maple City Antique Tractor Club. All I can say after it was over is if they are all this well run and fun I will be doing a lot of shows.

They had 98 advance registrations and it looked like they all showed up. We had to wait until the mall closed on Friday night to bring the tractors inside but the club had people standing outside in the cold lining up tractors to drive in. When we got inside more club members directed each tractor to a parking space and put the carpet squares, required by the mall, under each wheel as the tractors were backed into their spaces.

Being our first show we did not know exactly what to expect but my father decided to put some pictures togather of the tractor before, during and after the restoration. It turned out a LOT of people stopped to look at these pictures. It was well worth the little extra effort that was involved in doing it.

There ended up being 5 Fords at this show including two 1939s with aluminum hoods. One was Dwight Emstron's experimental S/N EXP 33 and the other one was Marvin Shepherd's S/N 358. It was great being able to talk to these two great guys about their tractors.

Thank you for putting up the pictures of the show, and telling about what happened. I had never heard of the Aluminum hoods until you wrote about them, and then that picture you posted -- wow! It sounds like a really neat experience all around. :-) --Dawn

Paul, great picture, I heard about this show and thought Dwight should have 98 tractors there. Glad to hear he and Marvin got two of theirs out. Good to hear you got your feet wet too. I'm a big fan of the Aluminum Hoods and 9Ns.....Kelly.

Here is another picture from this show. This is Dwight's 1939 9N.

Kelly,

Thank you Sir. I look forward to seeing yours at a show this year. I have seen it in pictures but it not the same as in person. Are you doing Penfield this year?

You are right about Dwight being able to hold his own show. First time I saw his collection my jaw about dropped to my knees. I had to be careful not to drool all over them.

I went to that show a couple years ago and decided the group needed a few more N"s. I joined but have been unable to make the dates. I wanted to drag one of my 2 N"s down to Galesburg (about 1 hour) this winter but looks like I missed.
The daughter is in traveling Baseball and the summers are really tough. I managed to make the Illinois City parade and this last year one in Andalusia (near Rock Island). I"ll have to try harder to hook up with you guys this year.

Wish I had known about this show - Galesburg is about 30 minutes from my house...
