Got 2 questions,First is the throttle control shaft supposed to have play? When I put shaft back on after painting I notice when I moved the throttle lever the shaft would move forward and backwards, don't know if i should put spacer or leave it alone.Second question I looked at the Parts Book for 2n tractor and it showed a spring on the throttle control bracket, it's for governor compensating? mine is missing this spring any info Thanks Chano

The throttle shaft tends to wear the housing over time. It starts to suck extra air (and dirt) into the engine and makes it vary hard to tune. Most of the parts suppliers sell a bushing that you install in the housing to fix this condition. You have to drill out the housing to accept the bushing. See my previous post (like yesterday) asking a similar question. There was a lot of great information provided.

The spring you mention is often missing and really should be replaced.
