Today I wrapped up the engine overhaul by tightening down the hood and doglegs, tubing connections, and installing the new 6v battery. She fired up nicely and ran pretty well at medium rpm, but higher rpm caused some missing. My guess is the distributor may need some attention. The points were gapped about 6 months ago, so I don't think that's it, but I noticed some side to side play to the shaft. Would high rpm's cause the play to become worse leading to a little roughness? I haven't fine tuned the carb yet, so maybe the power jet needs some adjustment.

Also, the cold oil pressure start-up was 50 dropping to 10 when warm prior to the rebuild. Now I have steady 25 warm or cold. Why don't I have higher cold pressure?

A tiny bubble appeared below the paint at the head gasket. I'll check the torque again after the head cools down. Anybody renewed the bushings in the distrbutor?

That oil pressure is good. The reason that your oil PSI is the same cold or hot is because all your journal clearances are nice and tight up to the specifications. So the oil pressure is rising up to the relief valve pressure setting. The oil pressure relief valve is functioning correctly, as it is designed to.

Hey nice job! (picture)
I was wondering if you disassembled EVERYTHING when you painted it then reassembled?
or painted it as shown?
Also, did you dismount the tires or just tape them off?
I have your photo set as my "wallpaper" for inspiration.

Everything came off before painting except the engine, transmission, axles, and hubs. I suspended lightweight parts from the rafters of my farm garage, heavy parts like the front axles were set on cardboard for spraying. The wheels were removed from the hubs, taped, then sprayed.
