Where exactly on the map is Hammond LA?

I lived in Bossier City LA. when I was 16 years old and worked for a Cajun paint contractor and his entourage. :O) That was an experiance for an uneducated Alabama country boy!

I also spent about 3 years in Alexandria LA. in the AF at England AFB and the name Hammond rings a bell it seems.

ZANE,

Just east of Baton Rouge (about 30 miles) right on the intersection of I-12 and I-55. Stands about 40 miles NW of New Orleans. (on the NW corner of Lake Ponchartrain)

Hammond is right below Independence, Amite, & Kentwood (Britney Spears fans) ----- LA

Very easy place to reach from most any highway.

Yes, cajuns are a fun breed - indeed! So any good stories of your work in LA?

BTW, I work quite often in Birmingham and occassionally Mobile.

Oh yes I am full of stories about LA. I really did like the places that I visited. There are lots of fond memories of LA tucked away in my old head. Fishing in the Red river and Gin lake around pineville LA. Drinking 3.2 beer at the beer garden on the AF base. Mama never knew!

Changing spark plugs on the engines of B29s and B50s

Made some friends in LA that I would have not ever known if not for circumstances that I had no control over. Fate you would have to call it. Got to visit one of the boys who was in the AF there in Alexandria with me. He came over to Lakeland from Melbourne FL. to eat lunch with me and my wife and sister. He brought his 84 year old dad over and his sister and wife. We had a great visit. I had not seen him since 1958. We were room mates for about a year and worked in the engine shop on the 4360 cubic inch radial engine that was in the KB 50 tanker airplane used to refuel air to air.

I found him through the internet on the computer and we have been corrosponding for about a year.

Really carried me back to younger days to be with him in person. We both could use some fountain of youth water though!
