Trying to start my tractor, this morning.
Rolled over 4 or 5 times then remembered I forgot to turn the key on.
Key on, 1/2 choke, fired on 2nd piston, ran a few seconds then died after I pushed the choke in.
Starter then clunked, then buzzed. It seemed as though the bendix had bound, so I put it in 4th gear and rocked it till I heard a click and saw the fan blade moving so I tried to start again.
Clunk then buzz. Now no amount of rocking in any gear will get the engine to turn. I just bought it and know that the seller had done some work to the starter and then found out teeth were missing on the ring gear. He broke it apart and replaced the ring gear.
I'm going out now to pull the starter and see if I can tell what's goin on.
Anyone else ever have this happen?

Pulled starter, half of teeth are missing on the starter bendix. Engine turns fine with starter out.
I hate it when that happens...

Probably some form of starter periodontal disease.
Happy Motoring
